Accountability

Accountability: an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one’s actions.

The missing ingredient in all aspects of self-improvement is accountability. As adults, we are accountable to very few people.

There is the obvious accountability to those you work for. Don’t produce, don’t get paid. Simple.

In our personal lives however, the accountability is much, much softer.

Your doctor will prescribe a medication and encourage you to “eat less and exercise more” then move on to the next examining room.

Your family loves you regardless of the state of your health and/or your appearance. They are quick to “let it go” if you do and give you a little extra cake because they know you love it, and they love you.

Your friends will encourage you, but probably deep down hope you’ll stop all this self-improvement nonsense and rejoin the herd. (Nothing makes the herd more nervous than someone trying to leave it.)

No one will challenge you when you fail to do what you said you would do.

No one will call you to account for your actions or inactions.

I will.

You and I will create an accountability plan to help you actually do what you say you want to do.

Sounds tough I know, but it is as important to me that you succeed as it is for you, but for very different reasons.

As I state on my brochure; "It's now or never."
