What Are You Going to the Gym For?

People go to the gym for many reasons.

They may enjoy the social interaction, the variety, the routine, the movement, or simply having somewhere to go.

There is nothing wrong with that.

But that isn’t what Precision Exercise is for.

The person who is attracted to what I do usually has a narrower objective:

I want to stay strong and capable as I age. What is the safest and most efficient way to do that?

That question changes the purpose of exercise.

If you enjoy spending an hour at the gym, efficiency may not matter. If you like classes, variety, or being around people, those things have value in themselves.

But if your objective is strength, the question becomes simpler:

What does the body require to become stronger?

My answer is demand.

Place enough demand on the muscular system to stimulate change, allow the body to recover and adapt, then progressively increase that demand.

That is what Precision Exercise is designed to do.

It isn’t a social activity or a hobby. It is a brief, supervised process intended to preserve and improve strength.

Then you leave and use that strength to live your life.

The people most attracted to Precision Exercise often aren’t looking for a gym.

They’re looking for a solution.
